Candidates need to be on our W2 (no C2C or 1099s for this role).
Key Responsibilities- Engineer flexible, modular mechanical test fixtures for vehicle electronics, progressing from manual benchtop concepts to fully automated, production‑ready systems
- Design precise mechanical interfaces for ECUs, including pogo‑pin contacts, bed‑of‑nails probing, and mass interconnect architectures
- Develop rack‑mounted automated test platforms that streamline system complexity while improving scalability and ease of assembly
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to define mechanical test needs and enhance overall testability
- Generate and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Oversee and coordinate with external suppliers and vendors responsible for fabricating mechanical components and assemblies
- Support the build, integration, validation, and rollout of test stations within manufacturing environments
- Partner closely with technicians to clearly convey design intent and ensure accurate implementation on the factory floor
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience designing modular mechanical systems for automated test applications in both development and production settings
- Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Solid Works (preferred), Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, ProE, or similar tools
- Strong working knowledge of electronic testing methods, probing technologies, cabling, and mass interconnect systems (e.g., VPC, Ingun)
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and component datasheets
- Experience deploying and supporting automated test equipment (ATE) in manufacturing environments
- Prior work within automotive, semiconductor, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries
- Hands‑on background integrating mechanical designs with automated electronic test systems
