About xAI

xAI’s mission is to create AI systems that can accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. Our team is small, highly motivated, and focused on engineering excellence. This organization is for individuals who appreciate challenging themselves and thrive on curiosity. We operate with a flat organizational structure. All employees are expected to be hands‑on and to contribute directly to the company’s mission.

Leadership is given to those who show initiative and consistently deliver excellence. Work ethic and strong prioritization skills are important. All engineers are expected to have strong communication skills. They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Finance Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems and platforms that power our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This role bridges finance and engineering, focusing on automating financial processes, integrating data sources, and enabling real‑time insights for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision‑making. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering skills with a deep understanding of financial operations to create robust, user‑friendly tools that empower FP&A professionals to deliver accurate and timely insights.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain FP&A platforms and tools, including data pipelines, dashboards, and automation workflows for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Build and optimize data integration pipelines from multiple sources (ERP systems, BI tools, databases, and external APIs) to ensure accurate real‑time financial data availability.
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A analysts, finance leaders, and cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Automate reporting processes, scenario modeling, and multi‑currency/multi‑entity financial planning to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Implement and maintain security, compliance, and performance standards for financial systems, including data governance and audit trails.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, monitor system performance, and drive continuous improvements to enhance reliability and scalability.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies (e.g., cloud‑based FP&A tools, AI‑driven forecasting) to keep the platform modern and effective.
  • Document technical designs, processes, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or financial systems development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java, or similar, with experience in data processing and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of data integration, ETL processes, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and databases (SQL/No

    SQL).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, or containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Background in fintech or high‑growth companies.
  • Certifications in relevant tools (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Anaplan Model Builder) are a plus.
  • Hands‑on experience with financial planning tools (Anaplan is a plus).
  • Familiarity with financial concepts (budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, multi‑entity consolidation) and the ability to work effectively with finance stakeholders.
Annual Salary Range

$115,000 - $300,000 USD

Benefits

Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package at xAI, which also includes equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long‑term disability insurance, life insurance, and various other discounts and perks.
