Research Analyst for the State & Local Policy Initiative
The Hoover Institution at Stanford University invites applications for a Research Analyst to conduct academic research on the economic effects of state and local regulation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather and clean data from proprietary, survey, and government sources.
- Construct and maintain databases, develop algorithms, and perform statistical analysis.
- Generate research insights using econometric modeling and data visualization.
- Conduct literature reviews and draft research reports and summaries.
- Prepare charts, graphs, and tables for senior researchers, fellows, and publications.
- Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection methods.
- Communicate findings to government officials, agencies, and industry representatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, statistics, public policy, engineering, or related quantitative discipline.
- Substantial experience with MS Office.
- Strong writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Experience with Stata, R, or other statistical software.
- Programming proficiency in Python, SAS, MATLAB, or
C. - Data visualization skills using Tableau or similar tools.
- Knowledge of domestic and international economic policy impacts.
- Experience with data cleaning, web scraping, and academic software such as LaTeX.
