Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Description

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for responding to and troubleshooting work orders related to doors and hardware, restrooms and sinks, lighting and basic electrical issues, general plumbing, and basic HVAC troubleshooting. You will perform general facility repairs, including painting, patching, and minor carpentry, while ordering materials and maintaining inventory as needed. Your role includes navigating large indoor buildings using a golf cart to access various office and lab areas, supporting day-to-day operations in a high-activity commercial environment with technical equipment, and following established processes and safety procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to and troubleshoot work orders involving doors, hardware, restrooms, sinks, lighting, basic electrical issues, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Perform general facility repairs, including painting, patching, and minor carpentry.
  • Order materials and maintain inventory as needed.
  • Navigate large indoor buildings using a golf cart to access various office and lab areas.
  • Support day-to-day operations in a commercial environment with high activity and technical equipment.
  • Follow established processes and safety procedures.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of facilities maintenance experience within a commercial/manufacturing setting.
  • Light fixture replacement experience.
  • Basic HVAC knowledge (e.g., swapping air filters).
  • Preventive maintenance skills.
  • Troubleshooting a wide range of building systems and general maintenance issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize work orders.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in lab environments is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable working independently across large buildings and multiple sites.
  • Willingness to perform hands‑on tasks including plumbing fixes, painting, patching, and general repairs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palo Alto, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
