This role offers a unique opportunity to be a Rust evangelist within the organization. As Rust becomes a critical component of our software ecosystem, you will play a pivotal role in advocating for its adoption, mentoring colleagues on its best practices, and driving its integration into new projects. Your expertise and enthusiasm will shape the technical direction of our team and help establish Rust as a cornerstone of our innovative platform.
Responsibilities- Become a key person to evangelize Rust
- Adept in async Rust support
- Design and implementation of embedded applications in Rust
- Maintenance and problem solving of existing Rust applications
- Support teams integrating with our libraries and applications
- Coordinate and plan tasks
- Long experience with the Rust language
- Adept at Rust best practices and paradigms
- Knowledge of Embedded Rust is a plus
- Knowledge of Rust-related CI, especially Git Lab is a plus
- Strong Git skills (repo tools, submodules, git-lfs)
- Experience with Cargo/Crates build system and package management
- Knowledge of Bazel is a plus
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proficient with Linux
- Arm
64 (OSX/embedded) cross compiling experience - Bazel experience is a plus
- Experience with messaging systems such as MQTT, and especially NATS
- AOSP experience
Salary Range for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants: $186,000 - $232,500 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Salary Range for Irvine, California Based Applicants: $171,100 - $213,900 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits SummaryRivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full‑time and part‑time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full‑time employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part‑time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
