Senior Vehicle Software Integration Engineer
We are building the next generation of electric vehicles from first principles. As a Senior Vehicle Software Integration Engineer, you will play a critical role in bringing together in-house developed software, supplier ECUs, and multi-domain systems into a cohesive vehicle-level experience. You will lead the technical execution of software integration activities across domains (chassis, powertrain, body, ADAS, thermal, infotainment) and ensure that each software drop is tested, validated, and debugged in both virtual environments and prototype vehicles.
This is a hands-on, senior technical role where you will define integration strategies, drive vehicle bring-up, and mentor engineers on best practices for software/hardware integration.
Responsibilities
- Lead vehicle-level software integration across all domains, ensuring compatibility of in-house and supplier ECUs.
- Define and manage integration strategies, test plans, and regression loops for pre-merge and post-merge software releases.
- Own and operate prototype vehicle bring-up, including flashing, network validation (CAN/LIN/Flex Ray/Ethernet), and feature smoke testing.
- Drive root-cause analysis of cross-domain software/hardware issues, coordinating with domain software teams and suppliers.
- Establish and maintain vehicle-level SIL/HIL “virtual car” environments for automated regression testing.
- Collaborate with Release Engineering to develop efficient software flashing, build, and logging pipelines.
- Define and maintain interface specifications (signals, diagnostics, timing budgets, communication protocols) across domains.
- Partner with calibration and attribute teams to ensure vehicle-level attributes (driveability, responsiveness, safety, NVH) are met.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior integration engineers and operators.
- Support vehicle testing at proving grounds, winter test sites, and internal fleet usage.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive software or systems integration, with at least 3 years at vehicle-level scope.
- Strong knowledge of embedded automotive ECUs (chassis, powertrain, body, ADAS, thermal).
- Proficient in vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Flex Ray, Automotive Ethernet).
- Experience with diagnostics (UDS, OBD-II, DoIP) and flashing tools.
- Hands-on experience with HIL/SIL environments and prototype vehicle bring-up.
- Familiarity with tools: CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, Vector tools, dSPACE, ETAS, Python/C++ scripting.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across hardware/software boundaries.
- Understanding of functional safety (ISO 26262) and ASPICE processes is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, prototype-heavy environment with limited documentation.
- Willingness to travel to proving grounds and remote test sites.
Estimated Max Rate: $85.00
