NSI requires an Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Program Office. The Engineer is responsible for designing and developing advanced systems and components for UUV/UAV platforms, with primary emphasis on sensor integration, perception capabilities, and support for autonomous operations. Implement, integrate, calibrate, and test sensor suites (acoustic, optical, RF, environmental, etc.) within autonomous vehicle architectures to enhance navigation, mapping, and mission execution.
Contribute as needed to software‑related tasks supporting control, navigation, and data‑processing functions using C/C++, Embedded C, Python, ROS, and Linux. Software development experience is considered a plus. Perform engineering analysis and design tasks across mechanical, electrical, and embedded domains. Support electronics integration efforts, including PCB component evaluation, assembly, and troubleshooting of interfaces between sensors, processors, and actuators. Conduct engineering data analysis to evaluate sensor performance, model system behavior, and improve autonomous vehicle reliability.
Collaborate across disciplines to ensure cohesive system‑level integration of sensors, electronics, structures, and embedded software. Participate in laboratory and field testing, system validation, iterative prototyping, and performance optimization. Assist in coordinating engineering tasks and deliverables; project management experience is a plus.
