SummaryWorks directly with individuals with developmental disabilities by conducting group and individual recreation activities according to individual needs, capabilities, and interests.
Essential Job Functions- Works directly with individuals with developmental disabilities by conducting group and individual recreation activities according to individual needs, capabilities, and interests.
- Determines and implements necessary precautions in exercising responsibility for the care and safety of individuals served.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to identify and implement meaningful group activities with focus on emphasizing the preferences of individuals served.
- Provides instruction and guidance to staff regarding activity delivery methods and techniques daily as well as at staff meetings.
- Maintains and continuously amends curriculum binders for each classroom to ensure that varied and age appropriate activities are planned and conducted for individuals served.
- Attends continuing education courses as required.
- Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Minimum Knowledge And Skills Required By The JobThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:
Education And Experience- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years’ experience working with developmentally disabled adults including planning and conducting activities for this population
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services
- All state required training and certification completed in mandated time frames
- Certification in Activity Coordinator preferred

- Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
