Communications and Engagement Specialist
The Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida is looking for a candidate that has a can-do attitude, is tenacious, energetic, hardworking, innovative, resourceful, and creative individual to join its Communications Team.
Essential Duties and Qualifications:
- Independent performance of the day-to-day communications activities for the organization.
- Works on a broad range of projects, involving the development and execution of publications, printing, marketing campaigns, branding, and public messaging.
- Participates in the design of outreach and awareness materials, including but not limited to creating, designing, and updating outreach and informational content (print, newsletters, newspapers, flyers, web, social media, etc.).
- Develop compelling presentations and materials tailored for businesses, Chambers of Commerce, and legislative stakeholders, highlighting the importance of early childhood education and its impact on workforce development and community growth.
- Website and social media content creation to assist in the promotion of organizational purpose, goals, and mission to the public and creating positive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and grow the organization’s digital presence, including social media platforms, website, and email campaigns.
- Assist in planning and scheduling communications projects.
- Writing and editing press releases.
- Assist with communication action plan.
- Assist and attend meetings and various events and activities along with the Special Projects Team.
- Assist with management of Constant Contact accounts and other approved off-the-shelf products used in communications.
- Have current knowledge of the fundamentals of marketing research and public affairs as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Complete general tasks related to communications and community outreach, including working closely with the Community Development and Outreach Coordinator.
- Monitor and analyze digital engagement metrics to refine strategies and increase impact.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS) degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent experience.
- Direct experience updating and maintaining website content.
- Direct experience and proficiency using email management software.
- Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills required.
- Outstanding written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams.
- Skilled in desktop publishing, including Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Canva, InDesign, and Photoshop).
- Three years of experience working in the nonprofit sector preferred.

Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining satisfactory:
- Verification of Required Education and/or Credentials.
- Level II Background Check.
- Drug Screen.
- Valid Florida Driver License.
- Valid Automobile Insurance – if applicable.
- Access to Reliable Transportation – if applicable.
- E-Verify.
- High Speed Internet Access that can be maintained daily, with at least 50
Mbps when working in a secure home location.
