General Merchandise & Food Sales — Role Summary

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage guests to help solve their needs when they require assistance.
• Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target.
• Perform daily tasks assigned by leadership to support goals, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as price changes, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve issues and improve guest experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking/packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while complying with relevant laws.
• Other duties as needed based on business needs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes.
• Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within time frames.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders; scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance.
• Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays; reliable and prompt attendance.
• Work in varying temperatures and conditions; exposure to elements may occur depending on duties.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift (shift lengths vary).
