This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Liberty Correctional Institution in the Maintenance Department.

The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. JOB DUTIES

This working position is responsible for the installation and repair of plumbing and associated systems, LP Gas supply, Waste Collection and Potable Water necessary to operate a major institution. This position will also provide on the job training to those inmates he/she supervises in plumbing and associated systems.

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for all plumbing systems, including LP gas supply, waste collection, and potable water.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures such as valves, faucets, traps, sinks, sewer lines, vents, and sanitary fixtures.
  • Conducts tests, maintains logs, and keeps records for equipment as per Department guidelines.
  • Repairs, replaces, and checks high and low pressure steam boilers, safety devices, and controls, and cleans boilers, tanks, and water heaters.
  • Reads blueprints, plans and organizes work, prepares reports, supervises inmates, participates in departmental training, and performs other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in the plumbing trade OR four or more years of experience in the plumbing trade (College or vocational/technical training in the above listed trade can substitute for the required experience).
  • A valid Driver’s license.
