Full‑time Registered Veterinary Technician

Pet Vet Care Centers – South Hillsdale Animal Hospital – is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Position Overview

The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by delivering dedicated veterinary care and outstanding service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting in surgery and procedures, nursing care, feeding, maintaining supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds.
  • Support examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, and restraining as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and drug administration.
  • Obtain and verify medications.
  • Ensure patients receive food, water, and clean environments; observe for clinical signs of disease.
  • Fill prescriptions and administer medications with proper documentation and security of controlled drugs.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, humane environment by sterilizing instruments, sanitizing operating areas, verifying shelf life, and compliance with regulations.
  • Document patient conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database accurately and timely.
  • Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs.
  • Maintain inventory, place orders, and keep receipts.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional journals.
  • Release pets to owners ensuring they are clean and groomed.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice.
Qualifications (Required)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience.
  • Experience assisting and monitoring anesthetic procedures.
  • Preferred: dental prophy and digital dental radiograph experience (training provided).
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) as required by State.
  • Consideration for equivalent combinations of education, certification, training, and experience.

Schedule
  • Monday to Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Schedules posted a month in advance.

Pay Range: $26 – $31 USD
