Job DescriptionJob Summary:
Coordinates and assists the Shipping Manager with the daily responsibilities of the department. Communicates work instructions to department personnel. Ensures Shipping employees work in a safe manner and are compliant with company policies and governmental regulations.
Supervisor-level jobs at Omaha Steaks require hands‑on leadership skills and the ability to guide teams through day-to-day operations while ensuring quality and performance standards are met. You will supervise daily team operations with a focus on short‑term goals, employee performance, and workflow execution, while fostering emotional intelligence, training team members, and providing input on key talent decisions.
- Coordinates daily workflow in the department and monitors completion of required job duties to meet or exceed standards. Communicates work instructions to employees in a professional manner and oversees training for the department. Assists employees with duties and resolves any issues or discrepancies.
- Responsible for entering shipping data and CF/load trailer setup information into the shipping system. Actively reviews computer records to ensure loads are correctly assigned to the appropriate trailers. Investigates discrepancies and communicates findings to the relevant team members.
- Monitors and evaluates departmental productivity. Communicates directives to shipping personnel ensuring productivity standards are met or exceeded. Communicates errors to employees and motivates for improvement.
- Cover for Department Manager in their absence. Will assist with interviewing, hiring and performance appraisal reviews. Ensures all information is delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitors proper loading of outbound trucks and turns in seal and truck trailer number to ensure efficient truck loading and product shipment.
- Monitors truck schedules and communicates scheduling problems to supervisor. Ensures trucks are checked in on schedule. Supplies drivers with printed BOLs.
- Coordinates staging of trucks with drivers to ensure that trailers are in place to meet volume requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years shipping/receiving experience. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
- Microsoft Office software skills preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate directions to staff.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic math calculations.
- Organized and able to prioritize multiple projects using skillful judgment.
- Must be detailed oriented and must be familiar with shipping labels.
