General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, maintaining a clean work area, and executing company operational processes as needed.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understanding that safety is the number one priority and practicing safe behaviors.
  • Maintaining awareness on the sales floor, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Securing the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
  • Removing clutter to ensure safe egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensuring customer safety, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Testing fire alarm systems as scheduled and responding to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treating all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times and recognizing associates via company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Representing and supporting the company brand at all times.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
  • Keeping all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard, and handling daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensuring recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
  • Receiving merchandise trucks when needed and processing all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Managing non‑merchandise inbound deliveries and ensuring stockroom cleanliness.
  • Assisting with merchandising of departments and ensuring back‑stock is secured and processed.
  • Ensuring compliance with monthly presentation guidelines and executing floor moves and promotional signing.
  • Managing re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understanding and complying with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintaining a strong presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrating integrity, safeguarding confidential information, and monitoring the PVM system.
  • Conducting “Code 50” package inspections and executing all company best practices to maximize productivity.
Front‑End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensuring associates execute front‑end procedures to company standards.
  • Managing line pace and customer wait time.
  • Training associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.
  • Controlling associate break schedules.
  • Maintaining equipment, supplies, and recovery for the front‑end area.
  • Managing go‑backs, scanning, and security tagging.
  • Teaching the “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensuring salability of merchandise on the front‑end.
