SummaryThe Metrology Programmer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing inspection programs/templates using PC-DMIS (CMM) and ATOS (GOM). In addition to programming, this role performs dimensional inspections of die and hand forgings, operates inspection equipment as needed, and supports Metrology Specialists with AS9102 reporting. The Metrology Programmer also trains and mentors team members in equipment operation, program execution, and inspection best practices.
MajorJob Duties
- Work collaboratively in a team environment to meet quality and delivery targets.
- Create, edit, and maintain CMM (PC-DMIS) programs and ATOS GOM templates for dimensional inspection, including developing and maintaining standard programs to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Operate CMM and GOM or use conventional inspection tools to inspect and verify compliance of forgings, tooling, gages, fixtures, templates, and machined features/components against customer or engineering requirements (CAD models and 2D drawings).
- Assist Metrology Specialists in preparing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Read and interpret customer engineering documentation, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and related specifications (parts lists, SPECOs, etc.).
- Review and validate supplier and subcontractor First Article and production inspection reports when required.
- Mentor Layout Techs on program execution, standard operating procedures, and equipment maintenance.
- Communicate non-conformances clearly, both verbally and in writing, to supervisors, Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering.
- Interface with source inspectors, auditors, and customers on inspection methods, product conformance, and reporting.
- Perform periodic acceptance tests and evaluations on both CMM and GOM equipment.
- Review customer specifications and relay applicable requirements to the Document Control Specialist.
- Report all safety incidents in accordance with company policies.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Assures Compliance to Quality Management System.
- Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements
- Well demonstrated experience with 2D and 3D inspections using a CMM, preferably utilizing MCOSMOS, Hexagon and GOM-ATOS inspection software applications
- Working knowledge of inspection and documentation procedures
- Forging experience is preferred
- Visual acuity testing as required by Weber Metals Inc.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred
- Technical School Certificate is Ideal
- Years of experience in field: 10
