Job Summary
  • Supports the sales organization by managing back‑office/inside sales operations; facilitates communication across departments to ensure sales objectives are met efficiently and timely.
  • Leads the Customer Service team and is responsible for forecasting, budgeting, trade promotion management, sales accounting, customer account set‑up and maintenance, master data, pricing, etc.
  • Works closely with the VP of Sales to co‑manage the sales department.
Essential Functions
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR FOOD SAFETY as it relates to the sales department; immediately communicates any product recall information and leads efforts to improve food safety culture and good manufacturing practices.
  • Hires, trains and holds Customer Service staff accountable for their responsibilities.
  • Sets sales and expense budgets, KPIs for the sales department annually; communicates progress to VP of Sales and executive management.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and executive management to determine price changes and optimize pricing strategies.
  • Manages customer and distributor portals and data, providing and communicating forecasts to stakeholders.
  • Controls sales P/L statements by division and customer, ensuring profitability and budget achievement.
  • Supervises quality document exchanges, ensuring customers have up‑to‑date quality documentation.
  • Adds, updates and maintains all customer and item master data.
  • Reviews and approves sales expenses per budget.
  • Works with Accounts Receivable to reconcile customers and assist in collection of past‑due invoices.
  • Communicates with Logistics to maximize sales and minimize shortages, cooperating to optimize inventory levels.
Management & Reporting Activities
  • Reports to President, CRO; provides weekly sales reports and updates on major customer activities.
  • Discusses problems and proposes solutions to VP of Sales and President/CRO.
  • Presents sales summaries to board of directors and steering committee at regular meetings.
  • Helps determine, track, and report sales department KPIs.
  • Maintains up‑to‑date records of distribution and pricing; updates and maintains sales department policy manual.
Other Duties

Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, or Management preferred.

Required Knowledge and

Skills:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing distribution, logistics, go‑to‑market strategies, food safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to report sales opportunities, progress, and challenges to executive management.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, critical thinking, and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply sales reports, syndicated data, and consumer marketing studies.
  • Travel required rarely to occasionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI strongly preferred.
