They are focused on disciplined financial management, strategic growth, and data-driven decision-making. They are looking to add a Development Accountant to their team. They offer a collaborative, fast-paced environment where finance plays a key role in shaping development strategy and performance.
Salary$100k - $120k
Position OverviewThe Development Accountant will support the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions for real estate development projects. This role is highly visible and partners closely with development, asset management, and senior leadership. The ideal candidate has strong budgeting, forecasting, and projection skills and is comfortable preparing high-level financial presentations for executive review.
Responsibilities- Prepare and manage development budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial projections for multiple projects.
- Analyze project performance against budgets and forecasts; identify variances and provide actionable insights.
- Support underwriting models, sources and uses, and cash flow projections for new and existing developments.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting related to development activities.
- Create high-level financial presentations and summaries for senior management, lenders, and investors.
- Collaborate with the Development, Construction, and Asset Management teams to ensure financial accuracy and alignment.
- Track project costs, commitments, and funding draws.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable GAAP standards.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience.
- Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial projections.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and executive-level financial presentations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Background in real estate development, real estate accounting, or construction accounting.
- Experience working with development pro formas and project-level financial models.
- Familiarity with ERP or real estate accounting systems.
- Experience interacting with lenders, investors, or external partners.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
