DIETARY TECHNICIAN IN FOOD SERVICE PER-DIEM 23609
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Dietary Technician to join our team and support high-quality, compassionate care for our diverse community.
Job Duties- Modify menus according to the master menu, patient preferences, and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Transcribe diet orders received via forms or verbal phone orders into patient listings.
- Enter patient data (e.g., diet orders, therapeutic needs) into the computer system; print reports and labels for menu modifications, snacks, supplements, and tube feeding orders.
- Answer telephone calls and process orders for immediate meal assembly in the kitchen or update diet orders for subsequent meals.
- Perform related clerical duties, including maintaining records, reports, and files.
- Provide customer‑service excellence: demonstrate respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, a pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness; respond in a timely, professional, caring, and respectful manner in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
- Maintain departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards; assess gaps and create necessary policies.
- Adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values statements.
- Collect diet order forms on assigned floors.
- Prepare snacks, supplements, and tube feeding orders for kitchen preparation.
- Assist in maintenance of department equipment and ordering supplies as needed.
- Perform duties of a Food Service Worker as required.
- Conduct special projects and collect data for quality assurance reviews and related assignments.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
- Basic data entry skills preferred.
- Typing speed of 25 words per minute preferred.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills; knowledge of a second language is useful.
- Knowledge of basic and therapeutic nutrition, nutritional values of foods, and regional, ethnic, and religious food preferences.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
High School graduation or equivalent required. An Associate’s degree in food and nutrition or a related field, or high school graduation with one year of experience in healthcare, is preferred.
Job Setting / Physical DemandsDiet office; position is mostly sedentary.
