About The Opportunity

As the CIO for Bergen Community College, you will be reporting to the Ellucian General Manager and the Customer Contract Administrator. You will be responsible for providing technology leadership and management of technology systems and services. This includes management of strategic and tactical activities to ensure client satisfaction, technical delivery, contract compliance, and resource management at the client site. You will also develop and implement the client’s Information Technology strategy as well as partner with stakeholders to ensure that projects and day‑to‑day operations align with the institution’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology department, including staff supporting academic and administrative systems, networking, user services, and other IT functions.
  • Act as the primary technology liaison at the client site, focusing on strategic alignment and higher education initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with campus stakeholders and customer constituencies.
  • Assess, anticipate, and prioritize technology projects, recommending appropriate actions, resources, and timelines.
  • Identify user needs, resolve issues, and form cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions across the organization.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Client’s Technology Plan, tactical plans, network analysis, transition planning, and related services.
  • Ensure technology services support the Client’s mission, vision, goals, and strategic objectives.
  • Establish and track deliverables, metrics, and performance measurements.
  • Provide executive-level guidance, consultation, and communication on technology strategy and initiatives.
  • Support IT governance by assisting with policy development, centralized technology approvals, prioritization, and operational decision-making.
  • Deliver regular status reporting on progress, risks, issues, and recommendations to the Client’s Contract Administrator.
  • Maintain a responsive IT organizational structure, adapting staffing and services to meet changing client needs.
  • Ensure a secure and compliant technology environment, including audit response, regulatory compliance, and information security policies.
  • Support data and reporting requirements related to financial, legal, personnel, and student information.
  • Monitor legislative and industry changes impacting higher education technology and recommend appropriate actions.
