Prepared Foods Team Member (Deli Service Counter & Culinary Venues) – Part Time
Join Whole Foods Market to provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service as a Prepared Foods Team Member. All positions must support Whole Foods Market core values, promote programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
Base Pay Range$17.00/hr – $25.40/hr
Responsibilities- Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods, including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza.
- Samples products to customers.
- Stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk‑in preparation, and refrigerators.
- Checks in‑stock product dates, rotates and ensures freshness.
- Prepares and consolidates recyclables.
- Assists Team Leader with organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items.
- Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
- Assists with periodic inventory checks.
- Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.
- Provides excellent customer service, answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.
- Maximizes sales potential through effective preparation, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of product.
- Follows established procedures including Weights & Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment and equipment.
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.
- Ability to sell proactively.
- Basic knowledge of all product types carried in the department.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills; able to work as part of a team.
- Clear and respectful delivery of information.

- Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization.

- Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
- No prior retail experience required.
- Must lift 50 pounds.
- Standing/walking 6–8 hours per 8‑hour day.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
- Movements: bending, twisting, squatting, reaching.
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: 90°F.
- Work in wet and dry conditions.
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Use of tools and equipment (knives, box cutters, pallet jacks). May require ladders.
