Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25 inpatient beds located in Paris, IL and a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Dialysis Biomedical Equipment Technician is a paraprofessional trained to oversee and maintain all dialysis-related equipment in the ambulatory outpatient dialysis unit and home dialysis unit. A Dialysis Biomedical Equipment Technician will also repair and perform preventative maintenance to ensure all systems are running properly. The technician must possess the physical capabilities to perform the job as stated and adhere to all policies and procedures.
EssentialFunctions
- Maintain all dialysis equipment to ensure that it is functioning properly
- Have knowledge of the function and safe operation of all dialysis equipment
- Collect samples for water cultures according to protocol
- Mix bicarbonate solution according to protocol
- Mix acid concentrate as directed
- Order and stock the tech room with appropriate supplies
- Assist with purchasing as needed
- Assist in receiving, storing, and dispensing supplies
- Be familiar with the overall procedures used in Inventory Control
- Assist in the documentation and control of excess inventory
- In the absence of janitorial services, assist in general housekeeping services
- Transport waste products to biohazardous area
- Comply with the requirements of all applicable sections of the Technical Manual
- The work may require travel to other facilities and/or patient homes during the workday; reliable transportation is required. The Dialysis Center pays a mileage fee for on-duty time.
The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.
Position Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in electronics/biomedical technology, or equivalent preferred
- Mechanical skills
- Previous dialysis experience preferred
- Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
- Fresenius equipment Level 1 and Level 2 Certifications
- Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors
- Ability to react and perform under stress and in emergency situations
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with others
- Ability to work independently as well as with others to plan and organize work assignment
Pay ranges from $21.351/hour to $34.161/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
