Overview

RN DIALYSIS - PRN at Horizon Health. Position based in Paris, IL with outpatient clinics in the area. This role involves hemodialysis patient care and requires adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

The hemodialysis registered nurse is proficient in providing hemodialysis therapies to patients with chronic renal failure. The registered nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Medical Director, and patient’s physician. The hemodialysis registered nurse must possess the physical capabilities to successfully perform the job as stated in the physical requirements. Adherence to all policies and procedures is required.

• Supervise and enforce all company and facility-approved procedures and policies.
• Complete admission processes as outlined in policies and procedures.
• Perform competent hemodialysis treatments.
• Set up and maintain hemodialysis equipment.
• Cross-train to peritoneal dialysis and to inpatient hemodialysis.
• Provide immediate supervision of direct patient care.
• Troubleshoot machine alarms as appropriate.
• Safely operate all dialysis-related equipment.
• Report machine problems to the mechanical technician.
• Be familiar with all emergency equipment and emergency procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and rinse dialysis machines according to protocol.
• Provide teaching to patients.
• Assist physicians during patient rounds.
• Administer medications to patients and transcribe/implement physician orders.
• Seek to improve work processes and participate in improvement initiatives and committees.
• Participate in staff training and ongoing quality improvement activities.
• Participate in Patient Care Planning meetings and data gathering for trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist the Charge Nurse with other related work as assigned and report incidents or problems to the Nurse Manager.
• Delegate and oversee non-licensed direct care staff.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current nursing license in the state of Illinois.
• One or more years of current nursing experience preferred.
• CPR Certification.
• ACLS Certification.

Hours:

PRN varying 12-hour shifts Monday-Saturday with occasional Sunday for holiday accommodations.

Base pay range: $27.47/hr - $44.00/hr (rate of pay based on applicable years of experience).
