Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility with 25 inpatient beds located in Paris, IL and a variety of outpatient clinic settings in Paris and surrounding cities. For over 50 years we have served residents of Edgar County with community education, emergency services and outpatient care, and as we expand our services and locations our community continually grows beyond Paris.

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing basic patient care and assistance under the direction of a Registered Nurse. In collaboration with physicians, RNs, and LPNs, the CNA provides services to patients and their families, interacting with a wide range of patients of all ages and varied needs.

• Provides or assists with personal hygiene, including bathing, shampoos, oral hygiene, skin care, toileting and shaving male patients.
• Takes and records vital signs, intake and output, and other data such as weight and height; reports abnormal data, patient problems or complaints, and changes in a patient’s status to the designated nurse.
• Changes bed linens and maintains patient rooms and the unit in an orderly fashion.
• Assists patients with meals, positions trays, feeds patients who are unable to feed themselves, and documents patient intake appropriately.
• Performs non-sterile treatments as directed by the RN, such as dry/moist heat packs, ice bags, CPMs, SCDs, ostomy supply changes, and specimen collection, in accordance with policy.
• Follows up on customer complaints, identifying corrective steps, communicating with coordinators or managers, implementing a plan, and providing feedback.
• Responds to call lights and advises the nurse of needs beyond the scope of the position.
• Explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to patients, families, and significant others before completion.
• Maintains knowledge of job- related duties, including infection control, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, TB/respiratory protection plan, policies, procedures, Disaster Manual, and Safety Manual.
• Observes patient confidentiality, discussing patient issues only on a need-to-know basis and not accessing patient information without authorization.

• Successful completion of an approved Nursing Assistant program.
• Current state of Illinois certification for Nursing Assistant (required for Swing Bed patients).
• Preferred 3–6 months experience as Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Knowledgeable on universal precautions and age-specific patient requirements.

Pay ranges from $15.25 per hour to $20.98 per hour, based on applicable years of experience.
