Position OverviewThe Medical Technologist performs, evaluates, and reports technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens to aid in diagnosis and treatment. The role adheres to protocols ensuring quality control and compliance with regulatory and professional standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to West Cancer Center’s Vision and Values.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct accurate testing of patient specimens based on established laboratory protocols.
- Report test results in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with laboratory standards.
- Maintain quality control and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Utilize and manage laboratory resources effectively, including productivity tools, supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Adhere to safety standards, including handling of hazardous materials and emergency responsiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a natural science discipline.
- Current Tennessee licensure as a Medical Technologist (or Special Analyst) required if employed in Tennessee.
- Must operate within the scope of licensure.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and laboratory information systems.
- Effective communication with patients, peers, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Organizational skills and ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving medium work, including handling up to 50 lbs., and visual acuity for detailed work.
