Job Title: Shift Manager
Reports To: Restaurant Manager/General Manager
ResponsibilitiesSupervise and lead team members during the shift, provide guidance, coaching, and feedback, ensure training on policies and best practices, and delegate tasks to cover all areas of the restaurant.
Maintain high service standards, resolve customer complaints promptly, monitor guest satisfaction, and lead by example in friendly service.
Oversee daily operations including food preparation, inventory, cleaning procedures, and timely food delivery.
Ensure accurate cash handling, assist in managing labor costs, and adhere to payment policies.
Manage breaks and shifts, cover shifts when needed.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain cleanliness throughout the shift.
Make quick, effective decisions and resolve issues, escalating as needed.
Communicate with management and staff, report issues and equipment malfunctions, and provide feedback on performance and improvements.
- Experience: Previous food service experience, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role; fast-casual or quick-service is a plus.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills and ability to resolve complaints.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to make decisions quickly and resolve issues effectively.
- Multitasking: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Attention to Detail: Maintain restaurant standards and customer expectations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (4-8+ hours) with periodic breaks.
- Perform repetitive motions and use of hands/arms for tasks such as chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs and use a step ladder as needed.
- Occasional sitting, talking, and active listening as required by the role.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; use lifting equipment or seek assistance for heavier loads.
- Move around the kitchen quickly and efficiently; comply with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work in a loud, fast-paced environment with varying temperature zones (hot kitchen areas, cold storage).
- Exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals; proper PPE and training provided.
- Awareness of temperature fluctuations and safe practices for food safety and well-being.
- Job duties span indoor and outdoor settings; curbside delivery and exterior maintenance may be involved.
- Awareness of hazards such as hot surfaces, sharp objects, and wet floors.
