JobPurpose and Summary
Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy. Acting as a role model for all, they demonstrate genuine care and set the bar for the pharmacy team. As a DSP you will cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, support pharmacy teams across the district, and be accountable for the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and its staff.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled, overseeing the pharmacy and acting as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the team to do the same.
- Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory effectively, protecting cold chain products and guiding the team on inventory best practices.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
- Maintain and develop relevant clinical and technical skills, including required trainings and CME, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, CVS Health policies, and controlled substance dispensing requirements.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.

- Concentrate on tasks over time.
- Pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation:
- Actively look for ways to help people and communicate in a friendly manner.

- Practice active listening and ask appropriate questions.
- Mathematical Reasoning:
- Use math to solve problems such as calculating total tablets, days of supply, and bottle counts.
- Problem Resolution:
- Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Physical Demands:
- Be mobile, remain upright, lift, scan, and bag items.
- Reach overhead, stretch, and use fingers for fine tasks.
- Move items, adjust machines quickly, stoop when required.
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
- Speak clearly and listen carefully.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
