The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation and keep the work area clean. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor and immediately correct or report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building: entrance/exit control, EAS devices, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe egress to emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety: prevent accidents, report accidents and perform emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all Customers, Associates and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times, and recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain professional appearance and ensure all Associates adhere to the Dress Code.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
- Receive merchandise truck when needed and process deliveries with urgency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms.
- Assist in placing merchandise on the sales floor once processed.
- Ensure back‑stock is secured and processed as per policy.
- Merchandise the department including back‑stock and reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
- Execute floor moves, promotional signing and re‑wraps as needed.
- Implement the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintain a customer‑service presence and engage customers and Associates.
- Handle confidential information, cash and credit card information with integrity.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor system.
- Conduct "Code 50" package inspections.
- Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.
- Ensure Associates execute Company standards at the front end.
- Maintain pace and presence on the front end, managing the line to reduce wait time.
- Train Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front‑end procedures.
- Control devise break schedule for backups, lunches and breaks.
- Maintain equipment, supplies and recovery for the front end area.
- Ensure go‑backs are scanned, security‑tagged and ticketed.
- Teach the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
- Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end and specialty racks.
- Maintain cleanliness of the fitting rooms.
- Audit and account for garment tags.
- Ensure go‑back compliance; all returned merchandise must be ticketed, scanned, nubbed and security‑tagged.
