General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation and keep the work area clean. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain high awareness on the sales floor and immediately correct or report unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building: entrance/exit control, EAS devices, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure safe egress to emergency exits.
  • Protect customer safety: prevent accidents, report accidents and perform emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all Customers, Associates and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times, and recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain professional appearance and ensure all Associates adhere to the Dress Code.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
  • Receive merchandise truck when needed and process deliveries with urgency.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms.
  • Assist in placing merchandise on the sales floor once processed.
  • Ensure back‑stock is secured and processed as per policy.
  • Merchandise the department including back‑stock and reduce loss due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
  • Execute floor moves, promotional signing and re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Implement the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintain a customer‑service presence and engage customers and Associates.
  • Handle confidential information, cash and credit card information with integrity.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor system.
  • Conduct "Code 50" package inspections.
  • Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensure Associates execute Company standards at the front end.
  • Maintain pace and presence on the front end, managing the line to reduce wait time.
  • Train Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front‑end procedures.
  • Control devise break schedule for backups, lunches and breaks.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies and recovery for the front end area.
  • Ensure go‑backs are scanned, security‑tagged and ticketed.
  • Teach the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness of the fitting rooms.
  • Audit and account for garment tags.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance; all returned merchandise must be ticketed, scanned, nubbed and security‑tagged.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits to Company policy.
