Facilities Director

Job Purpose

The Facilities Director provides the overall direction and supervision of the Facilities Department. This position oversees all aspects of a facility’s operations, ensuring its functionality, safety, and compliance with regulations, including managing staff, budgets, contractors, and long‑term planning for maintenance, repairs, and improvements. The Director recommends and oversees projects necessary to maintain and improve buildings, mechanical/electrical systems, parking, equipment, vehicles and any other facility‑related area, while protecting the company’s investment and supporting operational objectives.

• Maintains mechanical, electrical and controls systems; coordinates and orders contracted services for repairs not practical to be performed by facility staff.
• Establishes and carries out a preventive maintenance program for the physical plant and equipment, using manufacturer recommendations and job knowledge.
• Serves as project director, ensuring federal, tribal and state compliance, timely task completion, and satisfactory subcontractor performance for construction or remodeling projects.
• Identifies and corrects facility safety hazards in a timely manner.
• Acts as liaison with city, county and state regarding fire and fire detection/prevention systems.
• Maintains a system of facility supplies, asset inventory and accounting.
• Purchases supplies and equipment within purchasing guidelines.
• Prepares plans, material lists and estimates for new or renovation projects.
• Maintains and enforces all applicable OSHA programs within the facility department.
• Operates on-call twenty‑four hours for problems related to buildings, equipment and fire.
• Oversees all contractual services related to the facility (e.g., snow removal, fire services, elevators, maintenance contracts, janitorial services, trash removal).
• Develops and presents recommendations for facility improvement and oversees implementation of approved projects.
• Recommends capital improvement budget requests for buildings and equipment.
• Develops and manages facility budgets, including capital projects and operating expenses.
• Monitors expenditures and ensures financial accountability.
• Travels to other Wyandotte casino properties to understand their facility operations and assist with projects as necessary.
• Provides exceptional guest service for all external and internal customers.
• Operates the Facilities department, ensuring employee performance and a favorable guest experience.
• Manages, delegates duties and develops department staff; includes interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and terminating staff.
• Controls expenses based on budgeted guidelines and business volumes, including payroll and staffing levels.
• Performs all personnel functions within the span of control as needed.
• Maintains reasonable phone accessibility for business purposes.
• Promotes a cooperative, communicative, and teamwork‑focused environment with all departments.
• Supports compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures a work environment free from illegal and discriminatory behavior.
• Promotes safety and security for all guests and employees.
• Completes job duties with minimal supervision, maintains attendance, and uses appropriate judgment and decision‑making skills.
• Adapts to changes in duties, tasks, work hours, and other responsibilities as assigned.
• Establishes policies and systems to support executive management strategies.
