PAY RATE: $25.63 - $31.39 (USD) PER HOUR
JOB SUMMARYUnder the direction and supervision of the Parking and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Supervisor, conducts routine on-street enforcement tasks and other parking related tasks within the City’s historic district and residential permit zones. Performs routine maintenance on electronic parking meters, conducts signage inventories and condition assessments. Interacts in close contact with the general public responding to parking complaints, citation appeals, and general questions regarding parking.
EXAMPLESOF TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
Enforcement:
- Patrols established routes in cars or on foot, maintaining an enforcement schedule whenever possible.
- Uses sound judgment to identify violations of State or City parking codes and issues appropriate warning or citation.
- Accurately enters vehicle and citation data into city data base.
Customer Service:
- Acts as an ambassador for the city at all times as this is one of the few city positions that is consistently in contact with the general public.
- Educates the public in a positive manner about parking regulations, directions, parking supply, general city, and event information.
- Responds to complaints or concerns in a timely manner, referring these to a supervisor if necessary. Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance through actions, grooming and dress.
Stewardship:
- Assists with maintaining cleanliness of parking garages and lots.
- Identifies and reports paint and signage deficiencies.
- Assists with the installation of sign poles, signs, curb marking, and lot striping/painting.
- Completes reports regarding accidents or incidents.
- Assists police and other departments with problems, concerns, or incidents as directed.
- Cleans snow from red curbs, meters, and sidewalks as needed.
Teamwork:
- Performs necessary tasks to learn or implement changes associated with the Parking Services team.
- Maintains a willingness to work-day, evening, weekend, holiday, on-call, and special shift requests as assigned or directed.
- Interacts with co-workers in a positive, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Communicates with supervisor/co-workers both verbally and in writing regarding policies, incidents, safety concerns, and scheduling conflicts.
- Takes part in team building exercises and activities.
- Has a role in actively evolving and bettering the Parking Team with new policies, ideas, and techniques.
- Performs daily cleaning and inspection of parking meters notifying supervisor of malfunctioning or damaged equipment.
- Collects, transports, and counts monies from meters.
- Performs minor vehicle maintenance such as cleaning interior and exterior, fueling, maintaining appropriate levels of coolant, oil, air pressure, etc.
- Adheres to all City and departmental safety policies and procedures.
- Some knowledge of State of Utah and Park City motor vehicle and parking codes.
- Ability to interpret vehicle and parking codes and apply sound judgment regarding violations of these codes.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service under a variety of pressures.
- Some knowledge of the streets, locations, restaurants, and hotels of the Park City area.
- Ability to read English and interpret parking regulation signs, pavement, and curb markings.
- Ability to perform in stressful situations while maintaining tact and courtesy.
- Ability to diagnose and repair minor electronic meter malfunctions using simple hand tools and techniques.
- Ability to get results through teamwork (i.e. putting self-interests aside for the benefit of the team).
- Skilled in interpersonal communications, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to write accurate, objective summary reports.
- Skilled in keyboard data entry.
- Basic computer operations, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
