SummaryThe Grand Hyatt Deer Valley Hotel is located in the famed Deer Valley ski resort approximately 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport. It is part of a new development that includes 17 ski lifts, almost 1,600 residential units, eight hotels with a total of about 1,350 rooms, 250,000 square feet of conference and retail space, and one of the largest “ski beaches” in the world.
The property boasts 436 luxury accommodations, including 381 guest rooms and 55 residential units, 30,000 square feet of meeting space, a lobby-level restaurant and bar, signature bar, pool/après ski bar and grill, coffee bistro, outdoor event terrace, pool and whirlpools, kids club, and fitness area. We are seeking an experienced and polished Maitre’d to oversee all front‑of‑house guest service for Sushi by Scratch, a high‑end omakase concept located within Grand Hyatt Deer Valley. The role is responsible for managing reservations, guiding the overall dining experience, and supporting the bar program as needed.
- Coordinating and managing reservations
- Answering calls, emails, and text messages from guests
- Managing and training other front‑of‑house staff on hosting and canapé service
- Assisting with the bar service program, as scheduling needs require
- Greeting and welcoming guests, ensuring a high standard of hospitality
- Coordinating with the chef and front‑of‑house staff to ensure timely and efficient service
- Handling guests’ feedback and resolving them in a professional manner
- Maintaining updated knowledge of the menu, beverage list, and specials
- Managing VIP guests and special events to ensure an exceptional experience
- Reviewing product for quality on a regular basis
- Organizing and supervising shifts
- Ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
- Promoting the brand in the local community through word‑of‑mouth and restaurant events
- Fostering a collaborative spirit by supporting colleagues
- Interacting with guests and team members with warmth and professionalism
- Ensuring thoughtfulness, accuracy, and precision in all aspects of service
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Maitre’d or in a similar hospitality role
- Priority given to candidates with bartending experience
- Passion for hospitality and the ability to provide exceptional service and create lasting memories for guests
- Warm and professional communication and leadership skills
- Reliable, flexible team player willing to learn and adapt to new situations
- Full‑time availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
