Prime Landscaping & Snow Removal is a full-service landscaping company with a straightforward and unique design/build philosophy. We believe in having one landscape designer handle the job from conception to completion. In 2021, we expanded into excavation, demolition, trucking, and hauling. We are a team of highly skilled landscaping professionals who take pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail. With over 30 years of experience, our staff keeps properties looking and functioning beautifully.
Role DescriptionPrime Landscaping & Snow Removal is seeking a full-time, on-site Financial Controller to join our growing company in Park City, UT. This role is more than maintaining financials—it is a key leadership position that will drive financial accuracy, operational clarity, and long-term scalability.
As a rapidly expanding organization, we need a controller who combines strategic oversight with a hands‑on, servant‑leadership approach. This individual will be the head of all financial responsibilities, including job costing, and will not only guide and direct but also actively participate in the daily execution of financial tasks such as commission payouts, AP, AR, vendor communications, and detailed job costing within our systems.
This role requires someone who thrives in the “weeds” of the business while simultaneously steering the financial direction of the company.
- Serve as the primary owner of all financial operations and accuracy across the company.
- Lead with a servant‑leadership mindset—setting direction while actively performing and supporting day‑to‑day accounting functions.
- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and commission payouts.
- Make vendor calls, resolve billing issues, and support operational teams as needed.
- Manage and refine all job‑costing processes across divisions (landscaping, maintenance, excavation, demolition, trucking).
- Ensure accurate, real‑time cost tracking and reporting within all internal systems.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision‑making.
- Develop, manage, and track budgets, forecasts, and financial plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and accounting standards.
- Monitor cash flow closely, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital.
- Implement and oversee cost‑control procedures to enhance profitability across all divisions.
- Supervise, mentor, and support members of the accounting team.
- Help build scalable systems and processes as the company continues to grow.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, compliance requirements, and job‑costing principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage) and strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Experience in landscaping, construction, excavation, or related industries is highly valuable.
- Must be comfortable being hands‑on and doing the work—not just directing it.
- Preferred but not required — practical use of Aspire Project Management Software and/or working knowledge of Spanish.
Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 per year, plus profitability incentives.
