The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Foundation is seeking an experienced, results-driven Director of Development, Major Gifts to join our philanthropic team. This role is critical to advancing the Foundation’s mission by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and principal gift donors in support of America’s elite ski and snowboard athletes.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Director of Development, Major Gifts manages relationships with prospective and current major gift donors and leads coordinated solicitations to support the organization’s most pressing priorities. This position plays a key role in major and principal gift initiatives, including Annual Giving, Principal Gifts, Gold Pass, Alumni engagement, Direct Mail, and general gift processing.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Athlete Experience- Secure major gift support to fund critical athlete needs, including travel, elite training, coaching, sports science, and nutrition.
- Collaborate with current and alumni athletes participating in fundraising and donor hospitality events.
- Represent U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes, programs, and community with authenticity, professionalism, and passion.
- Build new donor relationships while stewarding and strengthening existing ones.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 75+ major gift donors and prospects.
- Identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors.
- Establish short-term and long-term fundraising objectives, including one-year, five-year, and longer-range goals.
- Plan and execute fundraising events that clearly communicate the organization’s mission and impact.
- Track all donor interactions, pledges, and gifts in Salesforce (NPSP).
- Develop customized donor solicitation and stewardship strategies.
- Create compelling major gift proposals and presentation materials.
- Expand philanthropic support and consistently achieve or exceed fundraising goals.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute major donor and prospect solicitations.
- Assist in the planning and budgeting of short- and long-term major gift strategies.
- Manage assigned travel and program budgets responsibly and effectively.

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, or nonprofit advancement.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals and securing major gifts.
- Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies, donor engagement, and philanthropic best practices.
- At least five years of experience cultivating major donors or business clients.
- Demonstrated success motivating volunteers, donors, and stakeholders to support organizational goals.
- Passion for skiing and snowboarding, with the ability to speak knowledgeably and enthusiastically with trustees and donors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
