Qualifications

Valid Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification, in good standing, and qualifications for the position as warranted. Valid Diver's License and access to a reliable vehicle. Demonstrated regular attendance at work.

Dedicated Teacher Position (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). B.A. Parker Public School - Marjorie Mills Public School

The Dedicated Occasional Teacher is a new role within SGDSB that will support B.A. Parker Public School and Marjorie Mills Public School. The Dedicated Occasional Teacher will be required to travel to the other school and must have access to reliable transportation. Return mileage will be paid from the home school which will be determined at the time of hire. This position will be used to support teaching staff who are absent at both sites.

This role will follow the guidance below as a trial position for the remainder of the  school year.

  • Regardless of years experience a DOT will be paid according to Step 1 (year one) of their category placement (1,2,3,4) according to QECO.
  • DOT's shall be entitled to all LTO Leave Benefits as per Article 11.
  • A DOT's working conditions shall be the same working conditions as regular Occasional Teacher as per Article 10.0.
  • DOTs shall accrue experience for each day worked as per Article 8.02; such experience shall not impact the salary of a DOT until they accept an assignment as a Permanent Teacher, an assignment as a LTO Teacher, or an assignment where the Principal requires development and instruction of a Lesson.
  • A DOT shall report to their designated work site each workday and for each PD day to receive and execute their assigned duties. Appropriate duties are those which would be assigned to an occasional teacher. Attendance at staff meetings will also be part of their professional obligations.
  • Any DOT who needs to travel between their assigned homeschool and another school shall be:a) paid mileage as per the Boards mileage policy b) be allowed time to commute safely between sites. c)
    Be provided a 40 minute uninterrupted lunch break.
  • A DOT may be scheduled to work for a teacher once the available work has been posted to the OT List for at least 4 days first OR is closer than 3 days from the assignment date

    B) A DOT may be scheduled to work up to a maximum of 5 days in advance.
  • If DOT is given an assignment where they are required to design lesson plans, they will be paid their appropriate grid rate as per Article 8.0 (Superior-Greenstone Teacher Local Agreement).
  • Applications

    MUST include a resume outlining qualifications, experience and an up-to-date Certificate of Qualification. Applicants must also submit the names of three (3) professional references, one of whom must be a current or most recent immediate supervisor, along with telephone numbers and email addresses, and a written authorization from the applicant permitting the Board to contact these references. Information from such persons will be gathered in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
