Position Overview:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides direct client care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning and prescribing pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatment within an outpatient setting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric diagnostic evaluations for clients with mental health, substance use, or other needs.
- Provide psychiatric and/or medical services within expected standards and applicable licensing board requirements.
- Apply medical knowledge to diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses.
- Maintain accurate, legible medical records and timely billing documentation.
- Order and administer pharmacologic treatment, monitor progress.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostics.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate care.
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and meet productivity standards.
- Elevate to higher levels of care or collaborate with MD/DO for complex cases.
- Provide medication and health education, including informed consent and alternative treatments.
- Conduct telemedicine appointments for intake and follow‑up.
- Ensure compliance with state laws, supervised hour requirements, CME and assessments.
Other Duties
- Attend weekly supervisory meetings with physician or as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Assist as required by supervisor with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s or doctorate degree from an accredited nursing school and completion of an accredited PMHNP program.
- At least one year of experience as a PMHNP (preferred).
- Current licensed practitioner with full and unrestricted licensure, active DEA license, and BLS from the American Heart Association.
