Job Description
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages repeat visits.
Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals while monitoring quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
- Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials.
- Provide customers with fresh, correctly portioned products to prevent shrink.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand store layout and locate products requested by customers.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
- Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of repair needs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks or illegal activity.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information and follow directions.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Comparable retail experience.
