General

Purpose:

Senior Quality Engineer supports the project team in ensuring that all fabrication and field installation activities meet internal standards, client specifications and applicable codes. This is a senior level role ideal for individuals looking to continue their engineering and construction career in a hands-on capacity while significantly contributing to project success. The position involves performing appropriate quality planning, executing various technical inspections, managing inspection data and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet internal and client quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop project-specific Quality Plans and Inspection Test Plans.
  • Coordinate and execute project Quality Plans.
  • Produce and implement examination procedures and forms as required.
  • Able to perform multiple types of inspections for different engineering disciplines verifying fabrication and installation meets drawings, specifications and codes.
  • Read and understand manufacturer’s recommendations and able to produce reports confirming correct installation.
  • Coordinate vendor and client inspection points based on Inspection Test Plans.
  • Evaluate and audit suppliers and vendors to ensure quality compliance.
  • Coordinate with procurement team to resolve quality issues related to purchased materials and equipment.
  • Manages nonconformances. Verifies dispositions are completed and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain and control calibration records.
  • Compile and complete project record books to turnover to clients.
  • Identify, report and immediately correct data discrepancies.
  • Supports commissioning efforts and handover activities to ensure contract deliverables are complete and on time.
  • Track quality performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other project duties as assigned by the QC Manager.
  • Effectively communicate and project the principles of The McCarl’s Talent Advantage Roadmap.
Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field. Trades experience will also be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication or field environment.
  • Possess or willingness to obtain AWS CWI certification.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret isometric and erection drawings.
  • Working knowledge of engineering and design standards and codes (e.g. ASME, AWS, API, etc…).
  • Knowledge of civil, structural steel and piping terminology.
  • API 510/570 certification is a plus.
  • Pressure equipment integrity program experience is a plus.
  • Experienced with installation processes and techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to produce neat and accurate work product.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate skills in Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Viewpoint.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to travel will be required based on project assignments.
Physical Requirements

Will regularly sit, use of hands/fingers, reach w/ hands/arms. Will frequently stand, talk/hear, repetitive motions. Will occasionally walk, grasp, climb/balance, bend/stoop/kneel/squat/crawl. Lift/Carry up to 20lbs. Push/Pull up to 10lbs. Near & Far vision.
