MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
- Must possess current or temporary Radiography License as required by state board where services will be provided:
- MD:
Radiographer License through Maryland Board of Physicians - OH:
Radiographer License through Ohio Department of Health - PA:
No state licensure required - WV:
Radiography License or Temporary Radiography License through West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board
- Must be nationally certified as defined by location where services will be provided:
- MD: ARRT upon hire
- OH: ARRT upon hire
- PA: ARRT within 12 months of hire
- WV: ARRT within 6 months of hire
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Rotate in all Diagnostic areas for development of technical skills (Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, Operating Room, Endoscopy, Orthopedics).Perform image procedures based on assessment of the status of the patient, request of the service, and imaging protocols, monitored by periodic image evaluations and supervision.Produce images of optimal quality by using imaging equipment and systems in the provision of image delivery and archiving.Select exposure factors based on patient's size, condition, and pathology resulting in optimal image quality, utilizing minimal radiation exposure.Minimize radiation exposure to self, patients and other staff by use of shielding, collimation, application of the inverse square law, and minimizing repeat exposures.Maintain an expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care/safety.Assess patient's needs and provide imaging related to comfort, hygiene, range of motion, and provide support accordingly.Prepare contrast agents, specific pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays; which are utilized for the imaging procedure according to procedural guidelines and protocols.Educate patients regarding radiographic procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.Promote the team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.Engage in problem solving, crisis management, systems implementation, and performance improvements throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high quality, and cost effective patient care.Display imaging techniques, patient care, and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulation, and The Joint Commission guidelines.Report equipment failures immediately upon identification.Complete all in‑services and competencies by the required date and apply knowledge gained.Position patients accurately in accordance with established protocols.Participate in coordination of daily workflow.Provide minimal instruction of radiology students in the clinical setting with regard to patient positioning, technique selection, manipulation of equipment, and the use of accessory devices to obtain Radiographic images. Provide clinical supervision and instruction within the policies of the Radiology program and its respective accrediting bodies.Ensure that all vital components of the imaging process are completed in their entirety.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Differentiate various shades of gray and color as depicted on a monitor or photograph.Stand and walk for prolonged periods.Lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds of weight.Carry items of up to 20 pounds.WORKING ENVIRONMENT
