The Ambulance Service Coordinator provides administrative direction to development and evaluation of all ambulance personnel, and maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit. This position also renders supportive care to the patient, sustain life at scene of accidental injury or sudden illness, during transport to the hospital and is qualified to begin corrective treatment as instructed by Medical Command Physician.
Minimum Qualifications Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:- Must possess current licensure as required by state where services are being provided: WV:
Paramedic through West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. - Nationally registered as required by state board: WV:
Paramedic through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (unless state license is State License Only (SLO)). - Valid Driver’s license.
- CPR Instructor Certified.
- Two (2) years of advanced education.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience.
- Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor through American Heart Association.
- Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) Certification through the board of International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
- All duties and responsibilities of a staff paramedic.
- Assists Ambulance Service Manager with fiscal plan by being familiar with added or replaced capital expense items and all other expense items.
- Schedules and controls daily operating procedures including petty cash, out of town trips, log books, etc.
- Responsible for supervision of all Ambulance service personnel Activities and educational requirements.
- Provides input and standards in formulating patient care policy and procedures for the Ambulance Service; coordinates pre-hospital management of patient care with Medical Staff.
- Accountable for serving as an essential member of the department and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality cost effective outcomes for our customers.
- Accountable for maintaining professional competency to ensure that knowledge and skills meet department and hospital standards.
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and crouching.
- Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintains a safe environment.
- Ability to be scheduled for work based on the operational needs of the hospital.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
- Must have an awareness of hazardous materials required and mass causality incident training.
