Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position at an acute care facility requiring a WV or compact RN license and at least two years of experience.
Responsibilities- Work in the Med/Surg Tele Float Pool across all inpatient units, including ICU, step-down, and medical/surgical units
- Patient ratios are approximately 1:6 for med/surg, 1:4-5 for step-down, and 1:2-3 for ICU
- Float assignments cover cardiac, ortho/neuro, surgical, and medical patients depending on unit needs
- Must be able to titrate drips in step-down areas, including heparin, Cardizem, nitro, insulin, and other common drips
- Use of Epic EMR is required
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- No on-call required, but standby may be required if census is low
- 3-4 shift departmental orientation provided
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Serve a diverse patient population in acute care through direct patient care, titration of drips, and monitoring as assigned
- Work with a team including charge nurses and nurse aides with 24/7 house supervisor support
- Robust training and orientation provided prior to full assignment
- Must be willing to float among all inpatient units based on competencies
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage may be required as needed
- Travelers may not work within WVU for longer than one year without a 2-year break
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not eligible for travel assignments at this facility
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
- Med/Surg background required; step-down experience preferred
- Experience in an acute care setting required
- Must be able to titrate drips in specified units
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must pass required EKG testing if working in PCU, ICU, or step-down units
- No previous employment at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years
