West Virginia University at Parkersburg is inviting applications for the Security Guard position. The role supports campus safety and security operations on the WVU Parkersburg campus.
Function/SummaryThis position assists the Campus Police Officer Lead with law enforcement on campus. Responsibilities include special event support, physical patrol of buildings and grounds, enforcement of campus security regulations, and collaboration with local law enforcement.
Responsibilities- Respond to incidents such as fires, safety hazards, theft, vandalism, and suspicious behavior; investigate, detain individuals if necessary, and contact appropriate authorities.
- Document all incidents and provide written reports of daily security activity.
- Patrol campus parking lots, enforce parking regulations, issue citations, and provide information on campus traffic policies.
- Monitor plant utility systems and report building or system defects requiring maintenance.
- Assist visitors, students, and staff with information, including summoning assistance via radio or other devices.
- Lock down or open facilities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift and ScheduleVariable shifts. Full-time is considered 37.5 hours per week.
Employment StatusNon-Exempt/Hourly Staff, full-time, benefits eligible.
PaySalary commensurate with education and experience. Range $60,000.00 – $.

- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Six months of basic computer skills.
- Six months of experience communicating and interacting with various cultures.
- Six months of experience with law enforcement equipment.
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
- Basic computer and communication software skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, taking initiative.
- Organizational skills with ability to multitask and reprioritize.
- Ability to practice autonomy.
- Leadership skills.
