Position: Transportation Worker 1 Equipment Operator - Calhoun County

Transportation Worker 1 Equipment Operator – Calhoun County – Parkersburg, WV. Full‑time, permanent.

Pay Grade 10H. Hourly Rate: $15.49

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate a light truck or vehicle.
  • Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
  • May operate Endloader, Skid Steer, Rollers, Utility Tractor, and Brush Chipper.
  • Control brush and vegetation using hand tools and other equipment.
  • Plow snow using a light truck.
  • Perform minor maintenance on fleet of equipment and vehicles.
  • Answer telephone and radio calls during snow removal and ice control.
  • Flag traffic at construction sites.
  • Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.
  • A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) anuncia required within six (6) months of employment.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of general safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and other motor driven equipment.
  • Knowledge of the operation of motor driven equipment.
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment used in the repair of motor driven equipment. Ability to diagnose minor hone mechanical problems and determine appropriate procedures for repair.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn from example and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to maintain routine records (timecards, repair work orders).
Required Experience
  • This is the entry level classification in this series. No prior experience is required.

Applicants will be placed in a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program. The selected applicant will be required, within 6 months of employment, to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL). Progress through the apprenticeship program and opportunity for advancement to a higher classification depend on hours completed, proficiency in work, training completed, and obtaining and maintaining a CDL.
