• Operate a light truck wrth vehicle.
• Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
• May operate Endloader, Skid Steer, Rollers, Utility Tractor, and Brush Chipper.
• Control brush and vegetation using hand tools and other equipment.
• Plow snow using a light truck.
• Perform minor maintenance on fleet of equipment and vehicles.
• Answer telephone and radio calls during snow removal and ice control.
• Flags traffic at construction sites.
• Travel may be required; a valid driver’s license is required.
• A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) will be required within six (6) months of employment.

• Knowledge of general safety procedures.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and other motor driven equipment.
• Knowledge of the operation of motor driven equipment.
• Skill in the use of tools and equipment used in the repair of motor driven equipment;
  Ability to diagnose minor mechanical problems and determine appropriate procedures for repair.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to learn from example and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to maintain routine records (timecards, repair work orders).

This is the entry level classification in this series. No prior experience is required.

The selected applicant will be placed in a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program. The selected applicant will be required, within 6 months of employment, to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Progress through the apprenticeship program as well as the opportunity for advancement to a higher classification is dependent upon hours completed, proficiency in work, training completed, as well as obtaining and maintaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
