Unit Aide & Porter - Nursing

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager or designate. Transports patients within the Oceanside Health Centre. Ensures patient comfort needs are met in the Urgent Care and Medical Day Care by performing patient care duties such as applying warm blankets to patients, and emptying drainage catheters. Maintains designated work and storage areas by checking and re-stocking equipment and supplies, checking oxygen tanks and suction bottles, and cleaning and changing beds, stretchers and treatment chairs.

Grade 10 plus graduation from a Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registered with the BC Care Aide registry.
