About Neonatal Services

As a state-wide leader in neonatal services, each year we care for up to 1800 premature and unwell babies from across Victoria in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The neonatal team practice within a family integrated model of care which is underpinned by several principles developed to improve consistency and continuity of care and to strengthen and support the engagement of families as essential members of the care team.

About

the role

As an Associate Unit Manager (AUM) within Neonates you will work collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Managers (NUM) to provide leadership and support to the NICU team, and lead the delivery of care to babies and their families. You’ll support the administrative operation of the department, as well as clinical management of the service.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the NUMs to provide day to day leadership and management of the NICU team ensuring a positive and professional environment
  • Participate in coordinating the delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Raise any identified concerns and implement strategies for resolution
  • Liaise with the Access Manager/After Hours Manager and other staff members as required
  • Act as a supportive and positive role model, providing constructive learning experiences and coaching opportunities, and facilitate individual and team goals

About you

You will be someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build collaborative working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. You’ll have excellent problem-solving capability, and take a flexible and adaptable approach to your work.

Requirements
  • Div 1 Nursing and/or Midwife Registration with AHPRA + Post Graduate Neonatal Nursing qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and time manage
  • A demonstrated commitment to family-integrated care and advocacy
  • An ability to foster open and supportive relationships with your team, and contribute to positive staff morale and team cohesiveness
