About the teamThe Women’s hospital offers treatment for all gynaecological conditions and is a tertiary referral centre for women with chronic pelvic pain, issues related to menopause, pelvic floor problems or other urogynaecology units. The Women’s also cares for women who are having a termination of pregnancy or who have complications related to reproductive biology such as IVF.
The major areas of focus for the cancer service are gynaecological and breast cancer. The Oncology Unit has integrated inpatient and low risk chemotherapy services to promote co-ordinated, patient focused care. Our nursing staff work across all these services. Qualified nursing staff are also rostered to work in the complex care unit which cares for women from both the maternity and gynaecology units who need increased monitoring and intervention.
Aboutthe role
As an Registered Nurse you will be responsible for ongoing clinical management of patients and for providing a high standard of nursing care. This role supports the Unit Manager and AUM group in promoting service development, quality assurance and the provision of a safe and supportive workplace. In addition, you will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. The Women’s has a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring of new staff and the Registered Nurse is expected to actively pursue their own professional development and education and to support their colleagues and students of the Women’s.
A regular day will see you:
- Evaluation of individual health and functional status, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms obtained through observation, interview, physical exam and measurement.
- Clear communication of patient assessments and care plans to the nurse in charge, the nursing team and relevant members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team to identify patient care options and plans
- Immediately reports incidents of unsafe practice to the nurse in charge or other relevant person and where appropriate explores ways to prevent re-occurrence.
You’ll bring with you:
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and well-developed written and electronic communication skills
- AHPRA Registration as Division 1 Nurse at least with minimum three years of experiance
- Candidates with no graduate year will not be considered. - Technical skills related to the management of acute symptoms including use of volumetric pumps and care of CVADs
- Clinical experience in acute health sector with a commitment to evidence-based outcomes.
- Demonstrates critical and reflective thinking skills
- Previous critical care experiance or willing to be doing the complex care course at the womens at start highly desirable
