Position Overview
We are seeking a Commercial Fire Technician to join a leading organization in the security and life safety industry. This role provides the opportunity to work with one of the largest and most established security providers in the United States, offering long‑term stability and exposure to industry‑standard fire alarm technologies.
This is an onsite, customer‑facing, driving service role responsible for completing approximately four service tickets per day across Maryland and the Washington/Baltimore metro area. A minimum of two years of commercial fire alarm service experience is required.
Primary Requirements – Fire Alarm Systems (Most Important)Ideal manufacturer expertise:
Experience with the following manufacturers is highly preferred:
- Honeywell Fire
- Silent Knight
- Potter AFC
Fire Alarm Responsibilities:
- Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial fire alarm systems
- Program Honeywell, Silent Knight, and Potter AFC panels
- Conduct fire inspections and complete corrective actions
- Install and service pull stations, horns, strobes, NAC/IDC circuits, annunciators, and related components
- Independently configure, diagnose, and test fire alarm systems
Experience with the following is beneficial:
- Intrusion alarm systems
- Access control systems
- CCTV systems
- Door contacts, motions, glass breaks, and related devices
- Preferred manufacturers:
Bosch, Honeywell, Lenel, DMP, and
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to handle complex technical issues independently
- Clear, professional communication with customers, project teams, management, and technical support
- Familiarity with SLAs and service ticket workflows
- Comfortable managing four service tickets per day
- Basic hardware replacement and minor installation capabilities
- At least two years of commercial fire alarm service experience
- Strong familiarity with Honeywell, Silent Knight, and Potter AFC systems
- Capable of fully programming and troubleshooting fire alarm panels
- Fire inspection experience, including deficiency remediation
- Some exposure to intrusion, access control, or CCTV systems
- Able to consistently complete four or more service calls daily
- Comfortable working under SLAs and structured service expectations
- Communicates clearly and professionally with customers and team members
- Maintains a clean, professional appearance
- Understands how to explain technical issues and solutions in simple terms
- Able to diagnose and resolve complex fire system issues with minimal supervision
- Capable of handling device replacements and minor installation tasks
- Comfortable traveling statewide using a company vehicle
- Valid driver's license with a clean MVR (past 3 years)
- Able to pass background and drug screening
- THC acceptable with valid medical card
- Any state fire/security system licenses are a plus
Parkville, Maryland (OnSite)
Daily travel throughout Maryland using a company‑provided vehicle
$30‑$40 per hour, depending on experience
Company vehicle provided
Opportunity to work with a major, nationally recognized security and life safety organization

- Drug screening required (THC allowed with medical card)
- State fire/security licensing preferred
Contract to Hire position based out of Parkville, MD
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $25.00 – $35.00/hr (depending on experience)
