Job DescriptionLearning Objectives: Student will perform a support role assisting the Gallery West Directors. This will involve weekly gallery support in both administrative and manual duties.
Responsibilities- Maintaining regular weekly hours at the gallery reception desk. These hours will be decided upon with the gallery directors. Greet and inform gallery visitors as needed, collect email addresses for mailing lists, and share info about future exhibitions with visitors.
- Twice per semester, assisting in the arranging and installation of new gallery exhibitions.
- Twice per semester, assisting in the takedown of gallery exhibitions. This involves taking artwork down from walls or pedestals, replacing plastic or packaging for work, and repairing/spot-painting gallery walls.
- Twice per semester, assisting at Gallery Reception events. This includes setup of the space as well as hanging signs and directing guests to the gallery.
- Ongoing support in the coordination of gallery advertising. This may involve email correspondence with Tri-C’s ICD department, correspondence with exhibiting artists to gather images and promotional materials, and distribution of promotional materials (flyers, posters, etc).
- Collect and organize gallery documents such as Gallery Agreement forms sent to exhibiting artists as well as documents and information collected from artists.
- Administrative support during the Annual Student Show, which will involve the organization of application materials from upwards of 75 Tri-C students.
- Other gallery support duties as assigned.
- Consistently maintain 6 credit hours each semester;
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress;
- Adhere to College's confidentiality policy;
- Successfully pass background/drug screening;
- Answer phone and take messages;
- Clerical duties such as filing, data entry, copying and faxing;
- Open and sort mail;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Willingness to learn new technology;
- Assist with special projects;
- Other duties as assigned.
