Instructor, Community Recreation (West):
Module 4
Module 4:
Aquatics delivers swimming instruction to individuals and groups of all ages in a community center setting, emphasizing water safety, fundamental swim skills, and stroke development. Designs engaging lessons that build confidence and encourage lifelong aquatic proficiency. Maintains a safe learning environment by adhering to facility protocols and emergency procedures.
Must hold current certifications in the following:
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification through the American Red Cross or equivalent
- Provides instruction to students and community members.
- Develops and presents the department with a curriculum that provides students with a full experience and is structured to accommodate all fitness levels.
- Sets up in preparation for and cleans up after each class.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience /Training
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Certifications/licenses, as applicable by discipline
- Required CPR/first aid certifications.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience
- Possess basic knowledge of fundamental subject area concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus.
- Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of the class. Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Education and Experience /Training
- Associate’s degree in related field
- Demonstrated experience with community-based instruction.
- Professional presentation skills
- The work may be performed in a normal, professional office environment.
- The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
- Work may be partially performed in an environment with sufficient noise that may cause an employee to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.
- Work may be partially performed in an outdoor environment where employees may not be protected from weather conditions.
- Work may be partially performed in and/or around a swimming pool requiring the employee to be a proficient swimmer.

Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position:
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $30.00/hr.
If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.
