General Responsibilities
Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor’s representatives regarding site conditions, project requirements, and testing results. Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Under close supervision of higher‑level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
- Progressively assume increased training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Maintain assigned equipment.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F‑150 or equivalent.
- Follow safety rules and practices for all projects; perform pre‑task planning before executing work; report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months of relevant experience required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
- Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
