Job Description Summary

Provides academic support to respiratory care program students. Works directly with students in one-on-one, small groups, and classroom settings. Supports the program’s objectives and initiatives as directed.

Essential Functions
  • Directly supervise Respiratory Care Program students in homework/practice labs, ensuring adherence to lab rules, policies and procedures
  • Ensure the lab provides a safe learning environment
  • Assist in the development of educational action plans
  • Assist with individual and/or small group tutoring sessions
  • Utilize various types of audio-visual materials, computer applications, and other instructional delivery systems
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of program students
  • May supervise Work-Study students and Student Assistants
  • Visit classes or consult with faculty as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Education and Experience/Training

  • Associate’s degree in respiratory care technology from an accredited institution recognized by the USDE
  • Current State of Ohio license and RRT credential verified by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience as an RRT
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of respiratory care concepts and ability to apply in various situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exemplary instructional methods and practices
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively
  • Commitment to providing exemplary customer service
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and counseling
  • Sensitivity to respond to the needs of the community

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The employee may sit for long periods and perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard. Some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items may be required. Travel to meetings and conferences away from the worksite may be necessary.

Special Note: This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 08, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of $20.00/hour. If hired, you must reside in Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands.
